Diversity Numbers Show Women and Minorities Still Have Gap to Overcome

Today, Yahoo released its diversity numbers on its Tumblr page. Yahoo and other Silicon Valley giants have recently started sharing their workforce diversity in an attempt to not only highlight the issues that still exist, but also to bring light to the companies’ efforts to increase diversity within their ranks. By releasing these numbers at a regular pace, they can show how their efforts to overcome unconscious hiring bias and other issues are making a difference. Yahoo is a great employer in the Omaha market and by seeing its number we hope that other local employers are challenged to share their diversity numbers in similar ways, to help shed light on areas where Omaha can continue to not only meet the national expectation, but also potentially exceed other communities.

It turns out that hiring more women and minorities is much trickier than churning out network switches.
